Stuart this is just fantastic! Only listened to it thro’ once, so might have missed a few things, but it will be borrowed and put on my Facebook page – many of my Evangelical friends will know just where this is coming from. Did he say anything about the key of F major? I can’t remember, but that also is a favourite… Annoying for me because I am a high tenor so usually have to wait until the chorus, which usually modulates up a major 3rd, where I can let rip!
Part of my PhD research involved working and worshipping with an Evangelical/Pentecostal New Religious Movement and almost every ‘worship’ song followed this pattern – with lots of personal pronouns. Followed by up to fifteen minutes of ‘tongues’… Oh my bowels still shrivel at the thought… Give me the English Hymnal any day!
