The Greatest Epitaph Of Remembrance Not The Poppy But The Welfare State – Lest We Forget.

I am old enough to have counted both WW1 and WW2 veterans as both my friends and mentors in my early years. Their attitudes towards the Haig poppy were in some cases ambiguous and in others less than flattering, but all agreed the Welfare State (for all not the few) was the greatest achievement and epitaph of remembrance.
