Nasty Hebrew graffiti vandalising Jerusalem Latrun Monastery has an ironic twist

Yesterday news reports were covering the vandalism at the Latrun Monastery near Jerusalem in which graffiti was sprayed on the walls and the door set alight.

The perpetrators are suspected to be right-wing Jewish extremists executing a “Price Tag” attack following the Court-ordered evacuation of 50 families from Migron.

This graffiti translates as “Yeshua is a monkey”.

Not very nice.

There is an irony to this sorry tale.

Joseph points out:

Despite it being a somewhat minority opinion in Israel, Messianic Jews have sought to underline that Jesus’ real name is Yeshua (salvation), and not Yeshu (a curse meaning “may his name and memory be blotted out”).

It is nice to see Messianic Jews winning the argument, even against religious opponents!

Ha! Freudian Vandalism…..
