Thanks Simian
Much to my surprise and delight I received a book from Amazon this morn that I hadn’t ordered.
But it was on my wishlist and is entitled: A Quiet Mind – Uniting body, mind and emotions in Christian Spirituality.
The delivery note came with this comment:
To say thank you for your wonderful and inspiring blog Stuart. Long may you continue. best wishes Simian.
Absolutely made my day and doubly so as Simian is not himself a Christian.
Thank you Simian and perfect timing as I’m in the midst of my monthly blogging blues.
In relation to the wishlist I have to apologise for calling all my readers a “stingy lot“, especially as poor old Tim was so deeply grieved:
You really know how to hurt people don’t you? I have spent the past twenty-four hours crying my eyes out at that statement, sobbing and sobbing into my pillow last night as well. There are no more tissues left in the house now, and its all your fault. Never mind, to cheer myself up I am going out to buy myself some new underwear, the first for five years, as celebration of the fact that I am now a non-smoker. And some T Paper. I’m also going to buy some stuff to clean the curtains, towels, and flannels. I won’t tell you why, it’s disgusting.
I suspect I won’t be alone in feeling somewhat relieved that Tim has now finally purchased some new pants, as this has been an ongoing cause for concern within the Christian world, and especially at his own church.
I shall now retire to my east wing reading room for the evening with a fine cigar and a vintage port.

I just wanted to find a way to say thank you Stuart. You’ve been there for me when I was feeling really really down, and your stimulating and uplifting posts have really helped me. That I value so much. Glad you got the book ok. I’ve had my head buried in books these past few weeks, researching for a particularly troublesome essay. Thankfully got it submitted on time and was happy with the mark I was given, so all is rosy this week, and I’m taking a break!
Lisa. I don’t like to disappoint you but I am most definitely not a Christian. But we Humanists aren’t so different to Christians. In some ways many of us could be considered very like Christians in terms of ethics etc., but without God. We do care very much for our fellow humans.
