  1. Tim Says:

Reference the Pride House link. I spotted this in the piece:

“In January, the Friends of Clapham Common had said the event was “highly likely” to become a “magnet for undesirable elements of the gay community”, and later apologised for the comments and said they would be working with gay and trans community members to benefit the common.”

I would suggest that the Friends of Clapham Common have been ‘got at’ for their statement and forced to withdraw it, hence the apology. One of my brothers and his Mrs lived just off Clapham Common throughout the 90′s and when my daughter and I visited them they were most emphatic about not letting my daughter anywhere near the Common. To emphasize the point my brother took me out with him to walk their dog one evening and we went round the Common, and it was quite an eye-opener. Bushes shaking, men skulking around hiding and ‘meeting up’ with other men and then skulking off into the bushes again…I thought “Get a room you dirty ******** ”

If it was that bad in the 90s then it must be even worse now, and small wonder that the Friends of Clapham Common are worried.
