David Cameron says UK is Christian in speech in Oxford for King James Bible 400th anniversary
I’m not going to say anything about David Cameron’s speech as so much has been said already. I think the general consensus in the Twitterati world seems to be that he’s a hypocrite, with a few folk suggesting he has no real faith, but more a belief in belief.
Anyway, you can be the judge of all that if you wish.
Here is the link to his speech in full.
Let us know what you think.

Stuart,
I think that it was an important speech and one that the church should take note of. Indeed I think that we need to re-think what we are up to – blogged about it this morning (if you don’t mind me sharing the link) http://j.mp/scL1Aw

I not only don’t mind your link Will, I’ve just finished reading your piece and was going to update the post with a link.
You’ve done it for me. Hop over and give it a read folks:
David Cameron and The failure of Christian vision
If you’ve blogged on this already, feel free to link to your post in these comments.

Laissez faire christianity, if the church become in anyway complicit in the destruction of the subsistence welfare state through the false virtue of Cameron’s Big Society then the church is finished – it will be judged to be gold digging in the state welfare pot and seeking profit in dispossession and poverty.
Was it not Thatcher’s laissez faire ideology that kick started the brutality we now witness in U.K. society?

Since on Twitter you ask “If you’ve blogged on Cameron’s Oxford speech feel free to link to your blog in the comment”, I’ll let you and your readers know that I have blogged on it twice:

I was surprised at how very impressed I was by that speech. It deserves to be read in full rather than just the soundbites. A great opportunity for the Church! Thanks for posting the link Stuart.

Looks like we will see a schism of christians join the elusive Witchfinder General – Iain Duncan Smith in the persecution of welfare recipients.
If poverty is a virtue worthy of self righteous charity then I invite the self righteous to join me in that poverty not for a day, a week, a month, a year, a decade but for life.

Thanks for the links and introductions Stuart, and which I’d seen at His Grace Cranmer. Am glad most comments are appreciative.
I note the speech’s importance from a different perspective and have informed friends and leaders familiar with the prophetical gifting.

@Richard B,
Cameron with prophetical gifting more like pathetic gifting from his contrary speechwriter.

I knew it was a risk making such a statement to a mixed bag of readers, but I’ve learned to go with what I know – and that’s not in the brainbox!
It depends on whether or not you can fire on all cylinders in the ‘zone’ of God-given giftings, Goy. Or consider, how can a child in a pedal car get to grips with a space-shuttle?
Eagles have much keener eyesight than humans, especially from above the clouds. In other words, there’s a much bigger picture and although our humanity all too easily gets in the way, yet there’s hope for us all – in Jesus.

Goy. Please do cheer up and see the good that there is in the speech, no matter what you may think of the speaker or his motives. Why must you so often just find the worst in anything? – There is good in everything too!

I’m with Simian Goy; you’re certainly on a downer at the mo.

Anyone interested in my first remarks about a possible prophetic aspect to the PM’s speech may like to know of further developments.
These could indicate a wider international relevance, as reported at
http://wp.me/p1Y1yB-j8.
(This also connects into some UK background, as reported last Sept.)

@Simian,
The speech if it can even be called that is a summary of general knowledge bullet points concerning the impact of the KJV that every 10 year old should know.
@webmaster,
Difficult to be content when Cameron is being lauded as having the tongue of a Christian prophet.
