Open Mike – The floor is yours
Thought I’d have a go at an open thread.
It’s your opportunity to share what you want. Your good news, your prayer needs, anything happening in your life, doing anything cool, anything you want to get off your chest, anything we should know about, you get the idea.
Or just say hi and let us know where you’re from.
To get us in the mood I’ll kick off with some unintentionally amusing church notice sheets:
The sermon this morning: Jesus Walks on the Water.
The sermon tonight: Searching for Jesus.Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM . Please use the back door.
Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
More here.
And here’s ten biblical facts that everyone gets wrong.
Over to you….

I have had an amusing Microsoft Outlook moment today.
I have a Deanery Chapter next week, and it is being held in a vicarage in a little village near here called Brill.
I now cannot attend, so in my calendar – I type ‘Not Going’ next to the event, so that I can remember that it is still happening and I can say prayers or something like that.
I went back to my calendar summary a few minutes ago to discover:
0945 – 1130 Deanery Chapter – NOT GOING (Brill)
No judgement intended!

Hello
I work as a care assistant in a nursing home for people who have dementia. Each day demonstrates to me how important each person is – residents, families and staff. Each person has a unique part to play in our community. We help one another through the day. It’s a place full of humour, laughter, sadness, tears, anger, pain, violence, confusion, kindness, comfort, listening, cuddles, patience. Of love. For me it’s the most spiritual part of my life. It’s where I learn how much we need one another and I learn love. I did all I could to keep my Dad at home so he didn’t need to go into care. I’m very glad I was able to do that and he lived out his life in the familiarity and comfort of home. Yet these days I see the value of community – and life in a care home has many positives. Thanks for the open mike – just wanted to share my experience as a care assistant. It’s something I’m passionate about!

“…the talk is titled ‘Heaven and How To Get There’. Transport has been arranged from outside the Dog & Duck”
– from a parish magazine, as quoted on the News Quiz years ago.
