Twitter launch official Follow button. How to add to WordPress within the blog post
Twitter have today launched a follow button for third party websites, which enables users to subscribe to your Twitter feed in one easy click, directly from your website.
For those blogs hosted by WordPress, the installation is dead simple and instructions can be found here.
For those of us self-hosting, go and grab your code here. I’ve opted for the number of followers to be displayed, but might remove that.
You can either pop that code in your ‘widgets’ for it to appear on the side, or you can opt for the button to appear above, or underneath, your blog p0sts.
I’ve opted for the button to appear beneath my blog posts and to achieve this you simply edit your ‘Single.php’ file within your themes and paste the code in the relevant place, preferably above the comments code.
Hope that’s easy to follow. I’ve assumed a level of prior knowledge, but if you have any probs, let me know in the comments and I’ll guide you through it.
