A Sad Loss – Composer Henryk Mikolaj Górecki
I’ve just heard that composer Henryk Górecki died a week ago today.
(December 6, 1933 – November 12, 2010)
Here’s the piece he’s probably best remembered for, and over which I’ve shed many tears….

Not like you to be behind the times, Webmaster.
This incredibly moving piece of music, which was a tribute to victims of the Holocaust, was made popular by Classic FM which was itself in its infancy at the time. It’s actually the only piece by this composer which was ever popular, as far as I know. I certainly never liked anything else he wrote. Not that I can actually bring anything to mind, come to think of it.
