Is Barack Obama the Antichrist?

It’s time for our dose of psychobabble and as I’m on the theme of all things eschatological, this piece leads on nicely.

Barack Hussein Obama has 18 letters in his name. That’s 6+6+6, or 666. Get it?

Substantial numbers of Americans believe Obama is the Antichrist. One survey in New Jersey found that as many as one in five people believe this theory. Similar numbers of people believe other crazy theories, including that Obama is a Muslim, a foreigner, and a socialist.

The traditional way to disabuse people of false beliefs is to provide them with accurate information. Here’s Obama’s birth certificate, for example. Hundreds of news Web sites have published evidence that Obama was born in the United States, but disbelief persists. Why is this?

I would urge all to read the whole article from which this extract is taken. It’s fascinating, and I think it neatly encapsulates how each of us invariably interprets the same “facts” in entirely different ways.

It’s fantastic isn’t Jim. I knew you were gonna like this one.

I sure hope he is. It would mean we’re near the end!

@ Webmaster: I like it too. The comments are good, particularly those about the health reforms. I have been fascinated and baffled by the furious reactions of so many ordinary Americans to the idea of even a very watered-down health care system. They react in ways that make no sense at all from a European perspective. It takes quite a lot of reading to understand a world view so radically different to our own.

The wild allegations against President Obama are so over the top and sadly I think many commentators are right when they say the almost hysterical hatred of the President is based on his colour. Rather than say so outright, people who can’t accept a black President make these crazy claims: that he’s not US-born, that he lies about his religion and now that he’s the AntiChrist. Weird, isn’t it?

… only has daughters for children, he is a man in his forties that comes from Muslim descent, he was an unknown man who has risen to power, and he promises world peace.

    D’oh!

Not sure what you mean Goy. Are you saying that this fulfills the prophesy or that it is crazy to make this allegation?
