Film ABBA: Mamma Mia! The Movie

Just to quell the swirling rumours, I am indeed unashamedly a huge ABBA fan, although, to add to my ongoing identity confusion, it is a day of doom when I’m dragged to IKEA kicking and screaming.

Ikea shops are designed like casinos so you lose track of time. You go there on Saturday to spend £50 and somehow leave on Sunday with £300 worth of goods.

I’m sure they must invoke Swedish magic….

To shop there is akin to following the yellow brick road, and you mustn’t deviate or you’ll be lost forever and you may be in danger of not meeting the wizard at the end of the path.

And whatever you do, don’t go the wrong way down the path….shudder….against the flow….

Anyway, I digress with nonsense as it’s good for me psychologically.

Just watched the Mamma Mia Movie and if you’re like me and have weakness for ABBA, you’ll watch this musical with a big fact smile on your face regardless of your present woes.

So if you want a guaranteed, cheer me up, feel-good-factor, session of escapism, then get your mitts on this film.

I have the Swedish language CD of the stage show. Quite different to the way you normally hear these songs in English.

We used to use ABBA English lyrics to teach English as a foreign language. This was done because everyone on earth seemed to know their music…
