The Vatican has released the prayer intentions of Poep Benedict XVI for January 2010. The Pope’s general intention is: “That young people may learn to use modern means of social communication for their personal growth and to better prepare themselves to serve society.” His missionary intention is: “That every believer in Christ may be conscious that unity among all Christians is a condition for more effective proclamation of the Gospel.”

If you like this pope so much then why not transfer in to his denomination? It’s just a passing thought; and they do claim to be the one and only true church, from which other branches of christendom have quite sinfully deviated!
However – though many of my best friends are of the Roman persuasion – for myself! – I prefer Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s interpretation of the same, along with that of the previoua saintly Wesley, and – of course – the more recent Bishop Ryle.
Christ’s body let Him down – traditionally! – three times on the Via Dolerosa. The Church which claims for itself to be His mystical body – has an utterly appalling history of letting Him down in a way that language could hardly describe. I ask in all humility: Is this the bride being prepared to meet the bridegroom when He returns?

I can’t resist, the Paul, Augustine. Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon, true reformer theology and the beauty of the liturgy found in Anglicanism at the end of the day.
