I was brought up in the Christian faith, but I'm no longer a Christian - I'm a humanist. I don't mind if people call me an atheist, albeit many devotees of religions assume that as atheists don't believe in God, they don't believe in anything. Not so - "do as you would be done by "the golden rule" pre-dates Christianity by a very long time. (Monotheists are themselves devout atheists when it comes to other religions, as evidence by conflicts between Muslims and Christians - both Abrahamic faiths).

The absence of faith is no guarantee of peace, but throughout time, and around the world today, much conflict has arisen not in spite of religion, but because of it. As to Human Rights, let's not overlook that well as having freedom OF religion, we also have the right to freedom FROM religion. As to people wearing silver crosses, fine if it makes them feel good, but I think if Jesus was around today and had any silver, he give it to the poor and make a wooden cross. Not ranting - just rambling. Peace and goodwill to all. David.
