Yad L’Achim complains about persecution by Haaretz
Cross post by Yeze from the Rosh Pina Project
Yad L’Achim, who heavily persecute Messianic Jews, are complaining that strongly-worded articles which have appeared in Ma’ariv and Ha’aretz about their actions are evidence of persecution…. against Yad L’Achim themselves!
You can read Yad L’Achim’s head honcho Rabbi Lipschitz kvetching away in an article published on the Etrog website:
Chairman of Yad L’Achim Rabbi Shalom Dov Lifschitz responded sharply to the articles and said that “their hate of the Jewish religion has caused the editors of ‘Haaretz’ to encourage violation of the law. It is easy to assume what the newspaper’s stance would be in case of other violations of the law. It is even more despicable when we are talking about missionaries who do all in their power to ensnare Jews in their religion. Look how low this newspaper sinks in defending these missionaries”.
My favourite part of the Etrog article is the last paragraph:
The legal department of Yad L’Achim reported that ‘Haaretz’ used the following expressions in describing the organization and its activities: harassment, persecution, deviating from accepted and legitimate activities, hooliganism, violent organization, and more. The organization is therefore considering filing a formal complaint against the newspaper.
So Yad L’Achim don’t deny that they themselves persecute Israeli citizens – they in fact seem quite proud of their persecution of Messianic Jews – their only problem is that Haaretz have accurately reported about them!
Let’s hope that Eli Yishai, Israel’s Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, will publicly distance himself from Yad L’Achim.

I am so happy to see that you’ve discovered our news site.
As an American living in Israel, I must say that Yad L’Achim does incredible work and the religious community supports it wholeheartedly. Anyway, Eli Yishai is a religious govt. minister and also supports Yad L’Achim’s work.
Israel is a Jewish country and therefore, Christian missionaries have no place here!

Nice of you to comment, Etrog, but it seems that not all of your fellow citizens (either Israeli or American) actually agree with you.
“Anyway, Eli Yishai is a religious govt. minister and also supports Yad L’Achim’s work.”
I know, and that’s a problem because Israel is democratic and Yad L’Achim… shall we say isn’t.
Have Yad L’Achim filed their formal complaint about Haaretz yet?
