Recent acts of religiously-motivated violence in Nepal carried out by Hindu extremist groups, including the Nepal Defence Army (NDA) and Ranbir Sena, must be taken seriously according to a briefing released today by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW).
The briefing concludes: “It is vital that freedom of religion is guaranteed strongly in the new constitution of Nepal, and it is equally important that those responsible for religiously motivated killings and violence be brought to justice.”
Tina Lambert, CSW’s Advocacy Director, said: ”It is essential that every possible step should be taken to maintain inter-religious harmony in the new Nepal. We strongly encourage the international community to actively engage with the Government of Nepal over this issue”.
