Christian councillor Alan Craig (leader of the Christian People’s Alliance) calls for free speech for Geert Wilders

A Dutch anti-Islam politician’s been met with angry protests in Westminster.

Geert Wilders, who overturned a ban on him visiting the UK, says he’s not against Muslims but the ideology of Islam.

Demonstrators are holding placards reading: “Islam will dominate the world” and “Sharia is coming” while shouting slogans.

At a press conference moved inside the Houses of Parliament because of fears for Mr Wilders’s safety, the Freedom party leader said Islamic culture was inferior to western cultures.

Councillor Alan Craig is the leader of the Christian People’s Alliance. He tells Premier despite the protests Mr Wilders should be free to say whatever he likes: “Do we roll over and give up just because we are scared people will respond like that? Have you heard what Richard Dawkins says about Christianity? Have you heard what some journalists say about Jesus?

“They are allowed to say appalling things about Christianity because we live in a democracy. Similarly Geert Wilders has a viewpoint about Islam, I don’t happen to agree with some of the things he says, but he has a viewpoint and he should be allowed to articulate it.”

Mr Wilders was refused entry to the UK in February after the then home secretary, Jacqui Smith, said his presence could lead to “inter-faith violence”.

However, the asylum and immigration tribunal, an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, overturned the ruling. Mr Wilders described the decision to allow him into the country as a “victory for the freedom of speech”.

In a statement the Muslim Council of Britain described Mr Wilders as a “relentless preacher of hate. The MCB neither condones nor condemns the decision to allow him into the United Kingdom, but it objects to the rapturous welcome he is receiving in the name of free speech”.

    Since the very inception of Islam, It has been in conflict with every other faith and if you were not of the ‘book’, you were either forcibly converted or dead.Nothing has changed in 14oo years.This religion is brutal and crude and has no place in a Christian country.Look at how they treat Christians in Malaysia,Pakistan,Iran,Iraq,Saudi Arabia,Egypt,Turkey,Syria and Nigeria.There will never be compatibility between us.The best solution is to swap Arab Christians for European Muslims and not allow their violent sexist bigoted faith to cross the Mediterranean.
