THE Archbishop of Canterbury today called on families to grow their own vegetables instead of going to the supermarket.

:!: What if you don’t have a garden or can’t afford an allotment or don’t have a balcony, because you are bloody poor and don’t happen to live in a PALACE, get back to the Scriptures Rowan and get off this embarrassing politically correct climate change mantra.

We as Christians all understand that we are to be good stewards of the earth, but we live in a fallen world and people need salvation and that is the job of the church, to communicate the gospel and make disciples. There are enough politicians and pressure groups and “green heads” to harp on about man-made climate change.

The church bangs on about this issue because it is easier than tackling the real issues that some might find offensive and challenging. The church should be counter culture and not running after the issues of the world like a dog chasing the delicious zeitgeist bone.

In running after the world, the church retains the respect of no-one. Folks are desperate for an unchanging church that stands for the eternal truths in the face of an ever fluid world, that stands on quick-sand :!:

THE Archbishop of Canterbury today called on families to grow their own vegetables instead of going to the supermarket.

Dr Rowan Williams appeared to back the Evening Standard’s “grow your own” campaign as he warned that families must change their shopping habits.

Speaking before a lecture on the Christian response to climate change at Southwark Cathedral today, he said: “More people ought to have allotments. It’s part of reconnecting – the sense of connectedness to natural processes.” He said he eats vegetables produced on a plot at Lambeth Palace.
