After the suffering of the 20th century, the people of the Czech Republic need “to rediscover reasons for faith and hope,” Pope Benedict XVI said at the conclusion of his midday public audience on Sunday, September 20. Looking forward to his own trip to the Czech Republic later this month, the Pontiff said that he wanted to “pay homage to the heroic witnesses to the Gospel, old and new,” in that country, and encourage today’s Catholics to live in the same spirit.
