If you wish to leave Islam according to the Koran the punishment is death. Islam is fundamentally different to Christianity in that it doesn't have anything like the same emphasis on choice. In fact choice has little to do with it, starting with an irreversible change to the male genitals at an age prior to consent, followed later by family disownment if the individual chooses to marry outside the religion and fails to convert their partner. This isn't just written in the holy book, but part of the culture actually practiced by millions of Muslims world-wide. The problem at the moment is that the majority Christian population don't actually understand that Islam has more of the characteristics of a cult than other religions like Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, so the emphasis is on tolerance at the moment. This will change once people wake up to the threat as they have many times in history, and the results for all of us are sure to be unpleasant when that happens.
