World powers accept global warming limit
I don’t normally comment much on secular news but the sheer breathtaking arrogance of the following BBC report on the G8 summit beggars belief:-
Developed and developing nations have agreed that global temperatures should not rise more than 2C above 1900 levels, a G8 summit declaration says.
Wow, I feel completely safe now!
That is the level above which, the UN says, the Earth’s climate system would become dangerously unstable.
US President Barack Obama said the countries had made important strides in dealing with climate change.
Well that is good news? It’s all sorted then…phew
But the G8 failed to persuade developing countries to accept targets of cutting emissions by 50% by 2050.
Well who do those developing nations think they are? Trying to better their lot and catch up with the ‘developed’ nations.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the G8 had not done enough and should also set 2020 targets.
Yes a very good point when all of the environmental doomsayers are telling us that we have about 2 years left before catastrophe anyway!
The planet can’t charge any country or business financially for it’s services to industry and so has been exploited in a most brutal fashion so that the ‘developed’ nations can sit in luxury. Doesn’t it seem a little hypocritical now to tell ‘developing’ nations that they can’t do the same?
Here is an interesting Scripture from the book of Revelations written some 2000 years ago:-
The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”
Now isn’t that interesting that 2000 years ago, when humans had no technology with which to effectively destroy the earth, God looks into the future and says that His wrath will come upon those who do so!
We were supposed to look after this planet on behalf of God, and look what we do instead for our luxuries. And now we are supposed to all feel safe that some rich folks are meeting together and it’s all gonna be alright now…so sleep easy tonight….
The G8 has spoken!
